Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is centered around restoring balance within the body. TCM acupuncture addresses not just physical symptoms and emotional health, but also the underlying energetic imbalances that contribute to dysfunction and dis-ease.
This healing art has been used for centuries - and has been consistently revered, both academically and anecdotally, as one of the most powerful healing medicines available.
How It Helps
One of the most powerful effects of Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncture is its ability to reduce stress. Specific acupuncture points throughout the body are used to calm the sympathetic nervous system (our fight or flight) and stimulate our parasympathetic nervous system (our rest and digest). Acupuncture encourages our brilliant bodies to reduce stress and fully heal, rest, and restore
Our acupuncturists often use the analogy of a splinter to explain and simplify a complex medicine. Imagine you have a splinter in your finger. What happens to the finger? Your body sends white blood cells and increases cellular activity around the splinter - you see a little swelling and maybe feel a little heat. This is the natural, healing response to a foreign object.
Now instead of a splinter, picture hair thin needles, so tiny you may not even notice. But your body will notice - and the same innate healing response will take place, almost as if by magic. We put needles “where it hurts” and allow the naturally increased circulation to take care of the rest!
Wary of Needles?
Many of our patients are hesitant to try acupuncture due to a fear or apprehension of needles. We hear ya! For most of us, when we think of needles, we think of big “shots” in our arms or getting our blood drawn.
But acupuncture needles are different! They are hair-thin and much smaller compared to other medical needles. Once gently applied, you won’t even know they’re there. In fact, many patients fall asleep on the table - even with needles placed throughout their body - because the whole experience is so relaxing.
We encourage you to discuss any fears you may have with your practitioner to make sure you don’t miss out on this incredibly healing modality.

Your time on the acupuncture table is your time to rest and receive. Whether treatment is targeted at an acute injury, being used preventatively to build more long-term resilience, this ancient medicine will let your body’s natural ability to heal itself shine.
